History of Troop 26

Troop 26 has a long history, going back continuously since 1952.  The troop existed before that as well, but not in a 'continuous' fashion. If you have some history to share (or correct here) PLEASE let us know!  webmaster@troop26bsa.org

Troop 26 Eagle Scouts

Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). A Scout who attains this rank is called an Eagle Scout or Eagle.  Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout rank has been earned by more than two million young men.  The title of Eagle Scout is held for life, thus giving rise to the phrase "Once an Eagle, always an Eagle."

Over 100 Troop 26 scouts have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout !

Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges and demonstrating Scout Spirit through the Boy Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Eagle Scouts are presented with a medal and a badge that visibly recognizes the accomplishments of the Scout.

Troop 26 Scoutmasters

Per Stan Leonberg of Moorestown (Troop 26 Asst. SM - 1946-48; went to medical school, did practice in Marlton):

Troop 26 Scoutmaster Ephriam Tomlimson and 5 men put together Camp Lenape in Medford; they bought it, and put in dam there. Everett  Haines (Ed Haines son) and his brother, Morris, had lumberyard and helped with building Camp Lenape. Ephriam Tomlimson was also Medford mayor for many years.
