Intrepid Air & Space Museum and 9/11 Memorial Trip
 - Saturday, November 18th and Sunday, November 19th in NYC

- 16 scouts and various leaders and parents have signed up for this great trip!

- Saturday: Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum - The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

  is dedicated to the exhibition and interpretation of history, science and service as

  related to its home aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid, a National Historic Landmark.

  Scouts will be able to examine original artifacts, view historic video footage and explore   interactive exhibits. Also at the site is the prototype Space Shuttle Enterprise and a

  guided missile submarine, Growler.
- Sunday: 9/11 Memorial and Museum - The National September 11 Memorial Museum

  serves as the country’s principal institution for examining the implications of the events

  of 9/11, documenting the impact of those events and exploring the continuing

  significance of September 11, 2001.

  - New Jersey National Guard Training Center in Sea Girt.

  - Action packed weekend full of interactive STEM related activities put on by the
    NJ State Police & NJ National Guard!

Shawnee Ski Trip – Saturday, March 11th to Sunday, March 12th

Saturday meeting time 6:15AM
All Participants will meet at the church early Saturday morning. Saturday will be a full day of skiing followed by a pizza dinner out and an overnight stay at the KOA Campground (Delaware Water Gap). The Pavilion is reserved which is one large room that we all stay in together. Our Sunday will start with a wholesome greasy diner breakfast followed by a three to four hour hike to Sunfish Pond. Part way home we'll stop for a quick lunch at Hot Dog Johnny’s and return to the church mid afternoon.
  - Costs - $130 - $150 per person depending on number of participants and dependent
    on if you need to rent equipment. If you have your own equipment you can bring it.
    Plus breakfast and lunch money.
  - All money needs to be into Mrs. Applegate by Monday, March 6th.
  - Drivers needed - Please let Ed know if you can drive and how many open seats you
    have in your vehicle.

- The 13 Scouts attending camp earned a total of 49 Merit Badges!

- Weather was absolutely perfect; days were pleasant and comfortable, and nights were

  cool for good sleeping.

- Bugs were a pain as usual.

Klondike Derby - Friday, February 26th - Sunday, February 28th


- Pine Hill Scout Reservation
- A Klondike Derby is a one-day competitive event, which uses sledges and Klondike
  Gold Rush themes to complete a multiple “city” course and sledge race, challenging
  each sled team’s skills and teamwork. The purpose of the Derby is first, a grand

  outdoor winter adventure full of fun and surprises, and second, a way for Scouts

  to test their basic camping and survival skills.

- Only in the case of extreme bad weather will the Derby be postponed or canceled.

- Costs - $11.00 per adult; $11.00 per scout; $8.00 per Webelos
- All money needs to be into Mrs. Applegate by Monday, February 22nd.

Scout Sunday - Sunday, February 7th

- A sign up sheet has been sent out thru e-mail.

- Scout Sunday is a great tradition for our scouts and families, to thank St. Peter's 

  Episcopal Church,  for sponsoring our troop. The scouts and families will have an

  opportunity to speak with church members during coffee time, and share their

  scouting experiences. This event also allows the scouts to "live out parts of what

  is pledged each week."

- Scouts must be in Class A uniform to participate - Class A shirt and slacks.

- No jeans or sweatpants.

- Scout siblings may participate, if they are in uniform. This includes Cub Scouts

  and Girl Scouts. 
- All Scouts participating will receive a 2016 Scout Sunday patch.

Medford Apple Festival - Volunteers Needed - Saturday, October 10th

- Sponsored by the Medford Historical Society - at Kirby's Mill.

- Volunteer functions include parking lot attendant, assisting with food and event

  stands, and other general duties.
- Includes a lunch and other snacks through out the day.

- Times run from 0730-1600 (4PM) - stay all day, or just an hour or two.

- Parents are welcome too!

Cub Scout Fun Day - Sat, Oct. 17th - Scout & Adult VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

- Location: Pine Hill Scout Camp (where we do the Klondike Derby).

- They need volunteers to assist with the Cubs.

- 9AM to 4PM - You do not have to be there the whole day. You can stay all day or

Boscovs' Friends Helping Friends Fundraiser - Tuesday, Oct. 20th

- From 9am-11pm on Oct. 20th, any customer holding a special shopping pass will

Bass River Camping Trip - September 11, 12, and 13

- Bass River State Forest, 762 Stage Road, Tuckerton, NJ.
- The arrival time is 6 pm on Friday September 11th.
- The cost of the trip is $25.
- Bring Class A's - there will be flag ceremonies and a September 11th ceremony.
- There will be classes and opportunities to get rank advancements.

Pine Tree Weekend and Spaghetti Dinner- Mr. Bob Applegate

* Arrive: Friday, Dec 13th, after 5 PM at Pine Tree, the main lodge building.
* Inside cabin camping - Scouts do not need to set up camp. 
* Scouts allowed to set up video games, DVD players and use other electronics. 
* Saturday:
      - Host Cub Scout visitors who arrive between 1 and 3 in the afternoon to

        demonstrate some of the fun things Scouts we do as a Troop, talking to them and

        their parents, and talking about the things we’WE done during the past year.
      - Spaghetti Dinner - Parents should arrive at 5:50pm. - Older Scouts prepare dinner

         for their families!
      - Court of Honor - Recognize all the work the Scouts have done since September,

        as well as reviewing our activities over the last year.
* Sunday morning:  Clean-up - All the Scouts involved in cleaning both buildings we used,

    packing up their gear, and then waiting for rides to take them home.
* Departure: Sunday morning around 10 AM.  Time varies as we must get the lodge clean

    before departure.

River Jam 2013 - Fri, 18 October - Sun, 20 October - Mr. George Younkin

Join us on the waterfront in Camden for River Jam 2013. This event will utilize the many waterfront attractions, demonstrations by various law enforcement and safety agencies, entertainment, as well as hands-on activities for Scouts of all ages. Spend the weekend in camp-o-ree style at Campbell's Field for 3 nights, including a Friday night sleepover aboard the Battleship New Jersey.

Biking will be offered again this year in addition to rafting.  Shuttles are available.  18 miles down hill on gravel.  Last couple miles flat to slightly uphill.

4 Scouts per Robot, which is assembled several weeks in advance. 

Council will provide the kits, the Scouts provide the teamwork.

First Aid Merit Badge Workshop - Mon, 15 April - Mrs. Sui Applegate

New scouts (who just crossed over) are to read the First Aid section of their Scout manual (pages 125-175) before the workshop. These scouts must also prepare and bring a personal first-aid kit as described on page 127 of the manual.
